Opening: child virus triggers Type 1 diabetes

Australian scientists have discovered enterovirus, typical for young children, which is clearly connected with the development of diabetes. The experts examined 24 scientific works on this subject and conducted the study, which was attended by 4448 subjects.

The results showed that enterovirus infection is almost 10 times more common in children with diabetes first type than in healthy children, and three times more frequently in children with symptoms suggestive of diabetes.

However, scientists have noted: they were unable to identify a causal link between the virus and diabetes. For this purpose, ascertain, they will require new research.

In Britain, the first type of diabetes affects about one of 300 people. The body stops producing insulin, which leads to very high levels of glucose. This can lead to coma and death.
